For the friendship of true women

For the friendship of true women, Lord,

That has been since the world began.

For the ties of relationships wonderful

That shall hold us as blood bonds may,

For the friendship of true women, Lord,

Take you our thanks today.

Since a women stood at a women's side,

To comfort through birth and death.

That best made us a bond of laughter and tears

That shall last forever and ever.

For the friendship of true women, Lord,

Now much have I to be glad of,

And much have I sorrowed for,

But nothing is better to hear,

Than the foot of a friend at the door.

And nothing is better to feel

Than the touch of a sister's hand,

That says "I know and I understand."

Since a woman stood at a woman's side

By the cross of Calvary.

For the tears we weep, for the trusts we keep,
